The Guangxi Provincial Museum is a comprehensive historical and artistic museum that locates in the capital of Guangxi province - Nanning. Covering an area of 40,000 square meters, the museum has a collection of over 70,000 historic relics, whose time span have surpassed 800,000 years. In the museum, there lies Guangxi Ancient Bronze Drum Exposition. As the precious heritage of the minority groups in southern China, the bronze drums are the real model for studying the ancient society, politic, economy and culture in southern China. Among 610 bronze drums found and collected in Guangxi, 334 can be seen in Guangxi Museum which owns the largest number for bronze drums in relatively integrated types. Besides, it also contains the source data of 1388 bronze drums preserved in the country. And its Guangxi National Folkway Exposition introduces 11 minorities' national folkways, including Zhuang, Yao, Miao, Tong, Dong, Maonan, Mulao, Hui, Jing, Yi, Shui and Yilun, and focuses on showing the physical objects, photos and models of the national characterized clothes, brocade, batik, architecture and some important festivals. In addition, there are other typical exhibitions in the museum, such as Guangxi Historic Relic Display and Guangxi Revolutionary Relic Display.
The Guangxi Provincial Museum is also rich of colorful folk performances, which are able to be appreciated at the cultural heritage center. Visitors can watch or join with the performers to singing and dancing, or making local specialties, such as soya-bean milk.
