Jinlian Lake Scenic Area locates in the north of Shanglin County, Nanning City. It is a National 4A Class Scenic Area. Now it is a comprehensive scenic area integrated with rich Buddhist cultures and beautiful natural scenery. Jinlian Lake is a quiet and unique holy land of Buddhism surrounded by beautiful mountains, green waters, lovely birds and fragrant flowers. The scenic area covers an area of more than 4,000 acres, including 1,400 acres of the water areas. It is the place where the literati and writers of the ancient dynasties once lingered on. The famous geographer Xu Xiake of the Ming Dynasty once explored this secret place.
Holy land of Buddhism
The Buddhist temple in the scenic area is Lianyin Temple, which is one of the largest temples in Guangxi. The entire temple is built along the hillside. It was built in accordance with the traditional style of the imperial temple of the Tang Dynasty. It was built during the reign period of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It was restored and rebuilt in 2008. The layout of the temple is axially symmetrical with a grand architectural structure.
The rebuilt Lianyin Temple has the archway, main gate, Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Hall, Lianyin Pagoda, Lianhua House, corridor, pavilion, Jinlian Pond, lotus altar, and other buildings. Outside the gate of Lianyin Temple, there are two rare thousand-year-old ancient trees of Vajra Bodhi. They symbolize the boundless wisdom, benevolence and love, illuminating the world.
Lianyin Temple is not only a pure land for Buddhist for worshipping. It also definitely becomes a place to protect the local history and culture, purify the soul and promote the harmony.
On the right side of the temple, there is the Jinlian Pond. The pond is just like a "Heavenly Pond" sitting between the green hills and under blue sky. The clear water of the pond comes from Jinlian Lake.
