Tongling Grand Canyon is located in Xinling Village, 32 kilometers southeast of Jingxi County. It is 230 kilometers away from Nanning City, and 29 kilometers away from the Detian waterfall. It is consisted of Nianba Gorge, Tongling Gorge, Gulao Groge, Xinling Gorge and Xinqiao Gorge, with a total length of more than 10 kilometers. The canyon is a fully enclosed rectangular gap, which is about 2,800 meters long, 200 meters wide and 300 meters deep. It is the National 4A Class Scenic Area.
Main attractions at Tongling Grand Canyon
There are thousands of cliffs in the canyon, deep and secluded, with giant stalactites hanging. The ancient trees and vines cover the sky and the mysterious caves and deep pools could be seen around.
The canyon was a valley in the past. Due to the geological movement, the earth at the top of the valley fell, forming a large skylight, surrounded by steep cliffs and spectacular momentum. A variety of ancient plants, profound valleys, clear streams and green vegetation makes the entire canyon full of vitality and spirituality. It is also connected with the Tongling Waterfall, which is the highest single-stage drop waterfall in Asia with a height of 188 meters.
Tongling Waterfall is 168 meters high and 30 meters wide, which is the tallest waterfall in southwest China. It hangs over the mountains and falls straight down like the huge silk curtain, and generates millions of water drops covering up the sky. When the sunshine lights above the fog, the gorgeous rainbows show up, attractive and colorful. On the top of the waterfall, there are the large and various-shaped stalactites. The scenery made of the calcareous rock is particularly wonderful and amazing.
Nianba River originates from Cologne Mountains. It flows slowly down and passed through Tongling Gorge. The water in the river is very clear.
The Tongling Gorge is a rectangular canyon, about 1,000 meters long. It is covered with primitive trees and surrounded by steep cliffs. The Primitive Forest has gurgling streams, steep cliffs, magical caves and deep jungles. It has collected more than 1,000 species of plants, many of which are the rare plants, such as Alsophila spinulosa, Guanyinzuo fern, golden plum, and cypress plants.
The Gulao Gorge has the highest mountain in Tongling Gorge, which is Gulong Mountain, with an elevation of 1035 meters. The canyon is abundant of water and plant resources. The forest coverage rate of the canyon reaches to 66%.
