Shunde Qinghui Garden is one of the ten best gardens in China and one of the four most famous gardens in Guangdong Province as well. It is a garden featuring traditional architectural characters of Southern China.
Qinghui Garden was firstly built by Huang Shijun, who was ranked NO.1 scholar in late Ming-Dynasty imperial examination. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, the garden was sold to Long Yingshi and had been redecorating by him and his descendants generations after generations. Nowadays, it is considered to be the most completed and classic masterpiece in Southern Chinese architecture history.
The yard, buildings, ponds and rockeries fit in each other well. Buildings in Qinghui Garden are set in deliberate, picturesque disorder to highlight the water. If you are sightseeing through the window, scenery you see would change if you change your position.
You could see wooden or ceramic sculptures and colorful glass wares in the garden for decoration; you may be amazed at the marvelous calligraphies and paintings here; and you may find elegant artistic craftworks everywhere.
