Pingle Ancient Town is located 93 kilometers southwest of Chengdu city in Sichuan province. It is a famous historical and cultural town in China. The old banyan tree, the Baimo River, traditional stilt houses built along the river, the streets paved with blue stones, and the endless bamboo sea in Pingle ancient town have jointly cultivated the idyllic landscape feelings of the local people. The ancient town also presents the natural and fresh local culture of the western Sichuan thousands of years ago.
Pingle Ancient Town was established as early as 150 BC in the Western Han Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago. It covers 235,400 square meters of buildings in the Ming and Qing dynasties’ architectural style. Pingle Ancient Town is famous for its Qin and Han dynasties culture in the western Sichuan region. The 'Nine Antique Heritages' of the town are ancient residences and streets, old banyan trees, ancient temples, the Golden Dam, the time-honored Leshan Bridge, folk activities, traditional paper workshops, local folk songs, and the ancient post road.
Apart from the ancient town area, there are four scenic spots: Lugou Natural Scenic Area, Jinhuashan Scenic Area, Huaqiu Mountain Scenic Area and Ancient Post Road Scenic Spot. The bamboo weaving porcelain has a long history and is exported to Southeast Asia, Europe and America. Ancient tea trees, the hand-made tea, root carvings, wood carvings and famous snacks of ancient towns are also well known.
