Dali New City vs Dali Old Town
Dali is the capital city of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. It consists of Dali New City (known as Xiaguan) and Dali Old Town. The local government keeps new city and old town separate. Owing to the distance of about 15 km from the new city area, the old town is still peaceful and well-preserved. When we discuss Dali, it usually refers to the Old Town of Dali.
Airport
Dali Airport operates flights from many Chinese cities including Guangzhou, Kunming, Xishuangbanna, and so on. By airplane, it takes about 40 minutes from Dali to Kunming, and 50 minutes to Xishuangbanna.
