Due to Zhangjiakou’s weather and geographical location, it has abundant snow resources. People always choose to ski in the ski resorts of Zhangjiakou.
Chongli Wanlong Ski Resort is located at Honghua Liang, Chongli District, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. Covering an area of more than 30 square kilometers, Wanlong Ski Resort has planned to be the largest ski resort in China in next ten years. The highest point has an altitude of 2110 meters, and the vertical difference of the trials is 550 meters. It is 50 kilometers away from Zhangjiakou and 249 kilometers away from Beijing. There are currently 5 primary, intermediate, and high-level slopes in total, with an overall area of over 200,000 square meters. Jinlong trial has a length of 1800 meters, Yinlong trial 2000 meters, Yulong 2500 meters, Xiaolong 800 meters, and primary trial 350 meters.
Thaiwoo Ski Resort is also in Chongli District. Covering 40 square kilometers, it is so far the largest comprehensive resort area in China. Opened in 2015, the overall cost of Thaiwoo Ski Resort exceeds 20 billion RMB. It has the highest mountain in Chongli – Yushiliang -- with an altitude of 2160 meters. The vertical difference of the trials is 510 meters. It is located at the same so-called “Golden Area for Mountain Resort” latitude, which is 40 ° N to 50 ° N, with the famous Rocky Mountain and Alps. The resort town plans to develop nearly 200 trials, with a total length of 138 kilometers. The first stage has accomplished 28 ski trials, 4 ski lifts, 11 Conveyors, and 6 star-rated hotels.
In 2022 Winter Olympic Games, Zhangjiakou is about to hold some of the snow events. It is a good choice to visit Zhangjiakou now and feel the Olympic atmosphere in advance.
