Airport
Pingyao has no airport. Passengers could take a flight to Taiyuan and get to Pingyao within 1.5 hours by bus or train.
Taiyuan Wusu Airport
Taiyuan Wusu Airport operates more the 50 air routes to Chinese cities and 3 international cities, Singapore, Hongkong, and Jeju.

Transportation to city center:
a. Airport bus
The shuttle bus from the airport to Taiyuan city center takes about 40 minutes and operates from 8:00 to the last flight of the day.
Ticket price: 15 Yuan per person.
b. Taxi
It takes about 30 minutes from airport to city center by taxi. Normally the taxi fare varies around 50 Yuan.
Railway Stations
There are two railway stations servicing the ancient city.
Pingyao Railway Station is situated in the Zhongdu Road not far away from the West Gate of the Old City. You can easily get into the Old City as soon as arriving there. Ordinary trains running to/from large cities like Beijing, Chengdu, Xian, Chongqing and Taiyuan are available in this station. In this station, there are battery cars running to the Old City. It charges CNY 5 to 10 per person per time.
Located to the southwest of the old city, Pingyao Ancient Town Railway Station is a station specialized in high speed trains. First opened to public in 2014, tourists can take bus no.108 to get to the Old City directly. Besides, this station also operates high speed lines to/from Xian North Station and Beijing West Station.
Bus Stations
Pingyao bus station mainly operates buses traveling inside Shanxi Province, so it is more convenient for passengers to transfer from Taiyuan. It takes about 2 hours from Taiyuan to Pingyao. Ticket price is 25 Yuan for one person.
Pingyao Bus Station
Pingyao Bus Station is situated close to the train station. The buses from Pingyao to Taiyuan depart every 15-20 minutes from 6:15 to 20:00.

You could walk to the station from Pingyao Ancient Town, or you could take a rickshaw, which takes about 2-3 Yuan.
Taiyuan Jiannan Bus Station
Taiyuan Jiannan Bus Station is located 3 km south to the Taiyuan Railway Station. Buses leaving for Pingyao depart every 15-30 minutes from 10:30 to 18:00.
