Located at the Sophia Square, the red-brick with huge green dome is the city’s most famous landmark known as Church of St. Sophia. Built in 1907, it is a Russian Orthodox Church and now is home to the Harbin Architecture Arts Centre. Church of St. Sophia is the best-preserved Byzantine dome throughout China.
You can go inside and see the exhibitions displaying old newspaper clippings, old religious objects and an interesting scale model of Nangang District in the 1920s. The beauty of the church is more enhanced by dozens of pigeons flying around the dome. After a long day of walk, you can sit on the wooden chair in the Sophia Square while feeding the pigeons.
