Airport
Most foreign travelers arrive in Tibet by plane. The only international airport in Tibet, Gonggar Airport is situated 87 km west of Tsetang in Shannan Prefecture. The airport has flights to Chengdu, Beijing, Chongqing and Kathmandu.
Bus
Tsedang is located in the Yarlung Valley, 170 km southeast to the city of Lhasa. It takes almost 2.5 hours from Lhasa to Tsedang. Visitors can visit the nearby picnic sites in Tsedang via bus.
Coaches and minibuses to Tsedang assemble in Lhasa Coach Station providing daily services. The usual price is CNY 27-30 per person while luxury vehicles charges a little more. Chartering a Santana often costs around CNY 200. The on-the-way scenery of the Yarlung Tsangpo River is breathtaking, and the road condition is fairly satisfactory. Direct coaches to the Samye Monastery can be taken near the Jokhang Temple.
Rental Services
Convenient rental services of jeeps, bicycles, tricycles and taxis in the Town of Tsedang provide a wide variety of transportation. In fact, cycling or hiking would be a considerably good choice for a nearby sightseeing.
