Tencent has launched TenPayGo, a new mobile payment app designed for international travelers visiting China. Developed by the WeChat Pay team, the app allows overseas visitors to link international bank cards or supported digital wallets and make mobile payments at tens of millions of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions across the WeChat Pay network.
TenPayGo supports overseas-issued cards from seven international card networks, including Visa and Mastercard. Overseas digital wallets are also being connected to the service, with around 60 expected to be supported by the end of 2026.
For travelers, one of the key advantages is easier registration. Users can sign up with an email address without needing a Chinese mobile phone number. In Shenzhen, visitors can also activate a local transit QR code through TenPayGo to travel on buses and the metro. Other travel-friendly functions include AI-assisted menu translation, while departure tax refund services are being developed with local partners.
The launch of TenPayGo for international travelers in China is another step toward making mobile payments and everyday travel more convenient for overseas visitors. Travelers can find the app on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
