Taiwan's EVA Air has announced that it will add three destinations, Zhengzhou, Jinan and Ningbo to its network of mainland China in December 2010 to satisfy to increasing demand of cross-strait travel.
On December 10, 2010 EVA Air and its subsidiary, UNI Airways, introduced regular scheduled flights between Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, and Taoyuan Airport in Taibei City. The service is operated on every Tuesday and Friday. Weekly flights between Taoyuan and Jinan, the capital of Shandong province, will be launched on December 18. These two routes will be operated using Airbus 330-200s, configured for 24 passengers in the Premium Laurel Class business cabin and 228 in economy.
EVA has also said that UNI Air will start operating one flight a week between Taichung, a city in west-central Taiwan, and Ningbo in Zhejiang province on December 20, 2010.
The launch of Zhengzhou, Jinan, and Ningbo services give EVA and UNI a combined total of 17 destinations in mainland China linked to Taiwan by 27 routes with 77 weekly flights. Adding services code-shared with Air China, Shenzhen Air, and Shandong Air, EVA and UNI come close to doubling the frequency of their service with 119 flights a week.
