According to a document released recently by the Third Survey and Design Institute Group of the Ministry of Railways, the construction of the high-speed passenger line from Beijing to Shenyang is expected to be completed in the year 2014. This line was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission last year.

The document also says that the 705.156-kilometer-long railway line will have 16 stations, with five in Beijing: Beijing Station, Xinghuo Station, West Shunyi Station, South Huairou Station, and East Miyun Station.

Today, it takes about four hours to travel from Beijing to Shenyang by bullet train. But the trains running on this line will have a speed of up to 350 kilometers per hour, which will cut the journey time between the two cities to two hours. It marks a great progress in Chinese history of high-speed railway construction. The project is scheduled to start at the end of this year.
