240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in China
China is implementing a 10-day (240 hours) visa-free transit policy. The transit program allows visitors who have existing flight bookings from China to a third country (region) to snag a visa on arrival at a Chinese airport (port) and stay for 10 days before departure. Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan all count as third destinations.
Passport holders of 54 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, can enter visa-free through any of the 60 open airports (ports) in 24 provincial regions, covering popular tourist cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Chengdu and Guangzhou.

Day 2 Chongqing - Fengjie |

Hiking: 3.5 miles / 3 hours
In the early morning, take a bus from Chongqing to Fengjie Town (250 miles, 5 hours) and get the first impression of the Three Gorges area en route.
After hotel check-in, take a warm-up hiking along the river at Qutang Gorge (3.5 miles in 3 hours).
Qutang Gorge is commonly known as the symbol and the entrance of the Yangtze Three Gorges. In spite of only 8 kilometers long, Qutang Gorge is the most majestic and rugged one of the three. With vertical cliffs of some thousand meters high as its two flanks, the Qutang Gorge is just like a narrow gateway.
Then you will visit the White Emperor Town, which is the entrance of the Yangtze Three Gorges and a dramatic and poetic scenic spot since the Three Kingdoms Period (220AD-280AD).

Day 3 Fengjie - Wushan |

Today, you will travel from Fengjie Town to Wushan Town. Firstly, take a car ride and connect a boat trip. Enjoy the natural beauty of the countryside, which is dotted with rolling hills, rice paddies and local villages.
If time permits, you could hike around the Wushan Town or visit a village, chat with friendly local people.
Overnight in Wushan.

Day 4 Wushan - Wu Gorge - Wushan |

Hiking: 8 miles / 6 hours
In the morning, take a ferry ride to the middle of the Wu Gorge (about 45 minutes). Today you will hike in the Wu Gorge. (8 miles in 6 hours, about 3300 feet above the sea level).
Wu Gorge is gifted with exquisite peaks and lush mountains and ranges. The Twelve Peaks of Wushan Mountain all rise to the blue sky. Among them, the most fabulous is the Goddess Peak, towering over the Yangtze River. Shrouded in clouds and mist, a protruding rock of the Peak with the shape of a slim girl is faintly visible.
Afterwards, take a boat back to Wushan Town (2 hours).

Day 5 Wushan - Badong |

Hiking: 6 miles / 4 hours
Firstly, take a boat trip sailing through the Wu Gorge, and change to a local ferry to the hiking start point.
Today you will hike to the Badong Town (6 miles in 4 hours). Hiking along the cliff trial, you will enjoy the spectacular view of the Yangtze River while cargo boats and cruise ships passing under your feet.
Overnight in Badong.

In the morning, take a boat ride (2 hours) and transfer to the Three Gorges Dam Site.
Then take a visit to the Three Gorges Dam, the largest dam and hydroelectric project in the world.
After lunch, transfer to the airport in Yichang.
