Wushan Airport is located at the border of Wushan and Fengjie counties, and is also very close to the Three Gorges region. The construction work started on April 20th, 2015, and is scheduled to open later this year. Once it is opened, it will become the fourth airport with regularly scheduled passenger service in the municipality of Chongqing.
The construction projects of flight zone and air traffic control have passed the completion acceptance, and the inspection flight is expected to be finished in early April. Now interior decoration is heading into the home stretch. After that, the test flight and industry acceptance will be conducted to achieve the operation of airport in the first half of this year.
Wushan is famous for its beautiful natural sceneries, and its plentiful cultural relics and historic sites. There are over forty historic sites and one thousand rare cultural relics altogether. Wushan locates at the western entrance to the Wu Gorge in the Three Gorges region, and is famous for its Little Three Gorges on the nearby Daning River.
