Summer is the harvest season for picking lychees in the southern China. The 29th Hejiang Lychee Festival was held in Hejiang County on July 23. The festival is host by Sichuan Forestry and Grassland Bureau, Sichuan Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department, and Luzhou Municipal People’s Government.
In addition to tasting the fresh and sweet lychees, people can also choose special local products such as lychee honey, lychee juice, and dry lychee. There are also the large lotus ponds where the lotuses are blooming together, fragrant and elegant. According to the historical records, Hejiang County has the lychee cultivation history for nearly 2,000 years. It is a veritable hometown of the late-maturing lychees in China, and is known as the "Lychee City".
Hejiang lychee is well-known at home and abroad for its unique flavors of thin skin, big nucleus, juicy, crystal, transparent, sweet, refreshing, and fragrant. In recent years, Hejiang has vigorously developed the lychee industry, and the existing lychee planting area is 20,400 hectares. This year, the output can still reach to 40 million kilograms.
