A direct ferry service between Nagasaki, Japan and Shanghai was launched on last Wednesday. The service is operated by HTB Cruise Corporation, a subsidiary of the Dutch-themed resort park operator.
The ferry, named Ocean Rose, will run twice a week, and hopefully increase from there. It has the capacity to carry 1000 people and the whole trip takes about 26 hours. The leisure facilities on board will include shopping and a massage parlor, as well as tea classes, cooking classes, and some Japanese cuisine.
When news first sprung up about this ferry, it was painted more as a bargain boat designed to get you there and back on the cheap, for only about 800RMB (about 128 USD) one way.
