During mid-April, the Dai ethnic group held a grand water-splashing festival in Yunnan Province, the southwest of China, attracting a large number of locals and tourists.
A few traditional and creative activities were organized in this event, such as appreciating dance performance, flying Kongming lantern, dragon boat racing, the creative fair and the electric sound splashing carnival and so on.
The water-splashing festival is regarded as Chinese New Year by the Dai ethnic group. Dai people pray for good fortune and bless themselves during this festival.
