Peach Blossom Festival to Open in Tibet

Annual peach blossom festival in Nyingchi Prefecture in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region is about to open on March 15 by the local government as numerous peach trees come into bloom in spring.

 

Surrounded by Himalaya mountain range, Nyingchi has an average altitude of 3,100 meters and relatively warmer climate, which allows it to embrace spring earlier than the rest of Tibet.

 

Nyingchi Prefecture has enjoyed a tourism boom since the operations of local airport in 2006. Besides the convenient transportation, the peach blossom festival also has the appeal for tourists. This year, the tenth peach blossom festival will especially hole a photography contest and the activity of selection of a goodwill ambassador.
