Overseas Chinese History Museum of China opens the toy and game exhibition on May 31st. This is the first time for Overseas Chinese History Museum of China exhibiting the toys to the public. The exhibition will be opened until September 1st.
The exhibits on shown include tangram, a ring puzzle and sliding blocks, and hopscotch, rubber band skipping and slingshots, as well as manual dexterity games like Jacks and Cat's Cradle. Some pupils' textbooks donated by Chen Laihua, a 79-year-old overseas Chinese who was born and lives in Singapore, are also on shown to the public. During the exhibition, many people provided their collections of toys and old photos, as well as the videos which help to recall the childhood memories.
According to the deputy director of Overseas Chinese History Museum of China, Qi Degui, "toys and games epitomize human culture and society, which are closely related to people’s daily life," said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. After the opening ceremony, a group of pupils were invited to bring their toys and join the games together, some of which have been passed down for generations.
