New direct air route to link Chengdu and Cairo

According to the Sichuan Airlines, a new direct flight will be launched on October 23rd. The air route will link Chengdu, the capital and largest city of Sichuan Province in southwest China, with Cairo, capital of Egypt.

 

The flight will be operated by Airbus 330 aircraft of Sichuan Airlines. It is scheduled to depart twice a week. This flight is Sichuan Airlines’ first air route in Africa. The international air route network of Sichuan Airlines will cover to all the five continents in the world. At present, Chengdu has opened two African air routes to Mauritius and Ethiopia. The opening of the Cairo route is an active response to the China-Africa Cooperation Forum and the “Belt and Road” Initiative. In 2018 and early 2019, Sichuan Airlines will continue to open international routes from Chengdu to Tel Aviv, Copenhagen and Boston.

 

Chengdu is famous for being the home of the cute giant pandas. Located in the west part of Sichuan Basin and in the center of Chengdu Plain, the city covers a total area of 12.3 thousand square kilometers with a population of over 11 million. Sichuan Province is reputed as the Heavenly State, literally a place richly endowed with natural resources.
