The indoor Hello Kitty theme park will be opened in a mall in Nanjing Road, according to Shimao group that based in Shanghai.
Japan’s Sanrio created Hello Kitty character in 1974 and has groomed it into an international icon for young girls. Shimao will build the three-story theme park and be in charge of the operation after acquiring the license rights from Sanrio.
The theme park will combine the elements of Shanghai’s history from different eras into its design. It is estimated to open in October 2018.
