China Eastern Airlines, one of China’s largest airlines is launching direct flights between Xi’an, the Shaanxi provincial capital, and Moscow.
The company will deploy a Boeing 767 to operate two weekly flights on a route to Moscow, starting from July 1. The flight will depart at 1:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Xi’an Xianyang International Airport and the return flight will leave Moscow at 8:10 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. The flight takes approximately eight hours.
This is the first direct route from Xi’an to Europe for a domestic airline. It is expected to bolster the ancient city’s position as the bridge for exchanges between European and Asian countries and create an emerging aviation hub for Europe.
