Why is Yellow Stone Village special?
You can’t claim to have visited Zhangjiajie if you don't pay a tour to Yellow Stone Village (Huangshizhai in Chinese). Covering an area of about 16.7 hectares at its top, Yellow Stone Village is 800 meters above the ground, and 1100 meters above sea level averagely. The village is characterized by the overhanging cliffs, high staking platforms, jagged rocks and elegant apexes. And it is reputed as the enlarged potted landscape and miniature fairyland.

Yellow Stone Village is also called Yellow Lion Village, Yellow Grass Village and the Village of Huang Family. There are many tales about the origin of the name. And the most popular one is told as below; ZhangLiang, an official in the Han Dynasty, lived in Zhangjiajie in seclusion and made pills of immortality. He did this to avoid the seemingly endless disputes within the imperial government. Unexpectedly, on a certain day, he was found by the government troops and surrounded by them. At this critical moment, he was saved by his master named Yellow stone Taoist. This village is the place where Yellow stone Taoist showed his magic and saved Zhang Liang, thus it is called Yellow Stone Village.
It is very good for health to hike along the top of Yellow Stone Village. The summits fresh air can not only invigorates your lungs but also rejuvenates your skin. It takes about two hours to complete the 3 kilometers hike. Along the way, numerous fantastic scenes meet the hikers in quick succession: Star Gathering Stage offers you the view that the stars in the sky is within reach; Five Fingers Peaks is said to be the hand of a Buddha; Heicongnao is a primitive forest that has not been footed since the ancient times; Golden Turtle in the Clouds Sea is like a giant turtle moving in the clouds with the mists all around, as well as Six Wonders Pavilion, Front Garden, Echo Wall, Remaining Piers of the Heavenly Bridge, Clouds Drifting Cave and so on.
