Inside Purple Cloud Palace, the Grand Hall is the only one, which has double eaves. It is a lean-to-hill, wooden building. As one of the rare buildings of uplift wooden crossbeam building in the history of the Taoist architecture, the Grand Hall is scientific and organized in structure and overall arrangement, which is also harmonious and coherent in the artistic style. The Grand Hall united with the surroundings as a whole, and is different from the other buildings in Wudang Moutain. In addition, the Grand Hall absorbed the construction techniques of the artisans in various time periods. It demonstrated great achievements of architectures in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
From the Purple Cloud Palace, there is a small stone path leads up to South Cliff, which was given the name since it faces south. From South Cliff there is an energy-sapping, two-hour, 4 kilometers climb to the top. The scenery on the way is worth every step and you can take contemplative breathers.
