Impression Liu Sanjie is a large-scale live-action performance in Guilin. It is the first landscape live-action performance in China. The performance is a spectacular masterpiece to show the beautiful scenery of Guiln’s Li River, and the colorful ethnic cultures in Guangxi Province.
Features of Impression Liu Sanjie
Impression Liu Sanjie was premiered on March 20th, 2004 after three and half years’ preparations, at the Sanjie Liu Sing Fair, where is one mile from West Street in Yangshuo, Guilin. It is the re-creation and re-procession of the movie Liu Sanjie. Directed by Chinese famous film director - Zhang Yimou, the performance lasts for 70 minutes and more than 600 local actors and actresses are involved in, which help to show the most authentic local ethnic culture.
The performance is set in the real mountains and rivers. As the largest natural theater in the world, the performance uses the beautiful Li River as the stage. The 12 mountain peaks, mist, clear sky and moonlight are used as the natural backdrop.
In addition, it applies lights and water reflections to highlight the splendid Li River and the limestone peaks around. The first chapter - Red Impression: Folk Songs symbolizes the enthusiasm of the local people. The second chapter - Green Impression: Garden, helps to reveal the peaceful and happy life of the local people. The third chapter - Golden Impression: Fishing Lights describes the simple existence of the people around the Li River. The fourth chapter - Blue Impression: Love Songs reveal the love of humans. The last Guangxi according to the legend. In the Epilogue, actors express their thanks for the audience in the beautiful songs.
