Flower City Square is known as "City Living Room" of Guangzhou which has been fully open to the public since October 25, 2010. The square is located at the center of Zhujiang New Town, the new central axis of Guangzhou City. It starts from Xiancun Road in the east and stretches Huaxia Road in the west, Huangpu Avenue in the north and Haixinsha in the south. Covering an area of 560,000 square meters, there are more than 600 trees and ancient trees planted in the square. About 2 kilometers of walking wooden plank roads and a floating island lake covering an area of more than 15,000 square meters are designed in the square.
At night, the lights of flower City Square shine bright. It is impressive for tourists to enjoy night view of Guangzhou here. Guangzhou International Lighting Festival is held in flower City Square at the end of the year annually since 2011. It is listed as the world's three major lighting festivals together with France and Sydney.
The Flower City Square Lighting Concert is held during the Spring Festival every year, with Guangzhou Tower as the center and the two banks of the Pearl River as the background. The live music of the concert mixing with city lighting performances creates a feast of sound and vision.
It is a new landmark of Guangzhou integrating shopping, dining and entertainment together. The Flower City Square Underground is a large-scale comprehensive shopping mall with numerous restaurants and stores.
