Xinghai Square (Square of the Sea of Stars) was built up in the year of 1993 in the southern beach scenic area of Dalian and has been regarded as the largest city square throughout Asia ever after. Covering an area of 1, 760, 000m², it is twice as large as Tian’anmen Square.
It is the most well-known landmark in Dalian’s downtown area. Walk down upon the Central Avenue, you could see the Exposition Center in the north. The Square of Hundred-Year City Sculpture is about 500m away from the ocean. Xinghai Square is encircled by a giant musical fountain with nine tripods of variety shapes and forms. There is a large Chinese character on each of the tripod, written in calligraphy of Wei Dynasty.
The square is also the site of Dalian’s popular beer festival, and is a good place to fly a kite or just stroll around.

How to go: Take Bus NO.15, 16, 25, 202, 523, 528, 531 and get off at Xinghai Park Station. The square is about 100m south from you.
