Impression Lijiang is a cultural show demonstrating the traditions and lifestyles of Naxi, Yi and Bai ethnic groups in Lijiang area. Composed of two parts - Snow Mountain Impression and Ancient City Impression, the show which has cost 31 million USD is staged at the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Dayan Ancient Town, two famous scenic spots in Lijiang.
The director of the show “Impression Lijiang” is Zhang Yimou, who is one of the most famous directors of China. Renowned for using natural color to depict the charming beauty of rural China land space, he got his great fame of being the director of the film Red Sorghum and the Hero.
Impression Lijiang is a part of the Zhang Yimou directed series cultural shows entitled with “Impressions”. The series show includes Impression Ms. Liu Sanjie (in Guilin), Impression of West Lake (in Hangzhou) and Impression Lijiang (in Lijiang).
The show is putting on at an outdoor stage which features the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as its backdrop (3,100 meters above the sea level). About 500 amateur performers of 10 minority groups from more than 16 towns and villages around Lijiang are employed to perform in this grand cultural show.
The show unfolds the mystic life style of ethnic groups of Lijiang Area, as well as demonstrating the stunning natural beauty of Lijiang.
