Yunnan Ethnic Village is a theme park displaying the colorful folklore and stylish architectures of 25 ethnic groups residing in Yunnan Province. The village is located at a narrow peninsula at the north shore of Dianchi Lake.
The theme park exhibits the folklore of 25 ethnic groups in the stylish buildings excavated in the villages of each ethnic group. Displaying a variety of buildings, lifestyles, and religious beliefs in the region, the village is a microcosm of Yunnan's colorful and diverse ethnic culture. Small villages of over 25 minorities including the Yi, Dai, Miao, Jingpo, Wa, Hani, Naxi, Dulong and others have been built inside the village. Buildings of different styles are well arranged and show visitors their unique charm. You could also get to know about the history and knowledge of the ethnic groups at Yunnan ethnic museums.
Traditional festivals of the ethnic groups are held each year, including Sanyuejie Festival of the Bai people, the Splashing Water festival of the Dai, the Torch Festival of the Yi, and the Three Flowers festival of the Naxi people. Visitors could also try the fantastic food and purchase some lovely souvenirs to bring home.
Visitors can enjoy not only a variety of architectural arts, clothing, and remarkable customs, but also live presentations of cultural songs and dances. The theme park stages folk culture art performance every day, including folk singing, dancing, Asian elephant performances and so on. The performances are held several times from 9:00 to 17:00 in the Dancing Hall and Tuanjie Square.
