North Korea Discovery Tour (by train from Dandong)

In the morning, meet your guides at the Dandong train station at 8:00am, and get ready to board the hard-sleeper train to North Korea. You will cross the Sino-Korea Friendship Bridge on the Yalu River over to Sinuiju. After customs checks, take the train to Pyongyang. View the Korean countryside and workers in the fields through the train windows on your journey to Pyongyang. It is a great chance to communicate with locals on the train. In addition, you can also stand on the bustling platforms while the train stops at towns and cities along the way.

Upon your arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel in Pyongyang.

After breakfast, take a visit to Mountain Myohyang to appreciate one of the most beautiful areas in the Korean peninsula. Afterwards, visit the International Friendship Exhibition Hall, a huge complex that consists of over 90,000 gifts, which were given to Kim Il Sung and his son Kim Jong Il by Chairman Mao and Joseph Stalin! After lunch, you return to Pyongyang and visit the Arch of Triumph and Mangyongdae Native House. Afterwards, you will visit the Youth palace to watch students in training before viewing a special performance given by local children. Then, you will enjoy a traditional Korean meal.

Ideas for leisure time: you could go to the National Stadium to watch the Mass Games or 'Arirang', a huge event which consists of more than 150,000 performers.

After breakfast, take a visit to the Panmunjom in Kaesong, the 'truce village' that straddles the North/South Korean border. Then, visit the Armistice Hall, where the truce was signed at the end of the Korean War. The North Korean military personnel will introduce the history of the site to you. Next, visit the DMZ or Military Demarcation Line. Then, visit the Koryo History Museum and the Tomb of King Wang Gwon. Afterwards, you will go for lunch before returning to Pyongyang. In the afternoon, you are going to view the Tower of Juche Idea. Later, take a stop at the export store, and you will have a traditional Korean meal as dinner.
